Join a Club

What is it?

  • It is important for communities to meet and socialise, and although a library may not have the necessary facilities for this, they can provide a mechanism to allow users to join local clubs. The library can take commission for providing this service.

How does it work?

  • Web pages are created by library staff for advertisers to enter information into.
  • MARC 21 tags are then generated to hold all details advertisers enter including images.
  • Users must be registered with the library to join a club.
  • New member’s details are then sent to the club who will manage the data.
  • Depending on the nature of the club, a membership fee may be required.

Example Income Profile:

10 clubs charging an average of £7 per user with an average of 50 new users signing up each month with a comission rate of 20%.

10 (clubs) x £7 (per user) x 50 (new sign ups a month) = £3,500

20% of £3,500 = £700 a month
